The Hottest Kitchen Trends of 2024

Oct 17, 2023

The kitchen has long been considered the heart of the home, and in 2024, it's poised to be even more central to our daily lives. With a focus on functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics, this year's kitchen trends promise to elevate both form and function.

1. Smart Kitchens

With technology becoming an integral part of our lives, it's no surprise that it's finding its way into the kitchen. Smart appliances, from refrigerators that can suggest recipes based on available ingredients to ovens that can be controlled remotely via smartphones, are becoming the norm. Additionally, integrated voice-activated systems are streamlining tasks, making cooking and meal prep more intuitive and efficient.

2. Multi-Functional Spaces

2024 is all about maximizing space. Kitchens are evolving into multi-functional areas that seamlessly integrate with living and dining spaces. Islands are becoming the focal point, serving as prep areas, dining tables, and even workstations. This trend is perfect for busy households, allowing for a more interactive and flexible living experience.

3. Customized Storage Solutions

Say goodbye to cluttered countertops and overstuffed drawers. Customized storage solutions are making a splash in 2024 kitchens. From pull-out pantry shelves to bespoke drawer dividers for cutlery and utensils, every inch of space is optimized for efficiency and organization. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also improves workflow and accessibility.

4. Bold Color Choices

While neutral tones never truly go out of style, 2024 is witnessing a surge in bold color choices. Deep blues, forest greens, and rich earthy tones are making their mark on cabinetry, walls, and even appliances. These striking hues add personality and depth to the kitchen, creating a space that feels uniquely tailored to the homeowner's tastes.

5. Open Shelving and Display Areas

Open shelving and glass-fronted cabinets are gaining popularity, allowing homeowners to showcase their favorite kitchenware, cookbooks, and decorative items. This trend not only adds a personalized touch but also encourages a more curated and thoughtful approach to kitchen organization.

6. Texture Play

Texture is taking center stage in 2024 kitchens. Matte finishes, textured backsplashes, and tactile countertops are adding depth and visual interest. These elements not only elevate the overall design but also create a more sensory-rich experience in the kitchen.

In 2024, kitchens are poised to be dynamic, functional, and aesthetically captivating spaces. By embracing natural elements, integrating smart technology, and prioritizing sustainability, homeowners are creating kitchens that not only meet their practical needs but also resonate with their individual lifestyles and values. With these trends in mind, your kitchen can be a haven of creativity, innovation, and comfort for years to come.

According to a recent survey by LightStream Home Improvement Trends, the top home renovations continue to be in our kitchens and baths. And the reason behind these projects is a desire to love our homes. In fact, 73% of those surveyed reported that they’ve invested in a home improvement project since the pandemic began. The homeowners said they’re currently focused on renovation projects “that provide emotional fulfillment, not just a return on investment”. Fifty one percent said they wanted to feel joyful in their home and 29% said their motivation was to be “happy with a space for years to come”. Here at Cabinets Plus, we’ve felt this first hand. We have never been busier and we love assisting our customers while designing their dream kitchen or bath. The pandemic has increased our business exponentially (thank you) and we have met the challenges with a continued commitment to our clients: to give them the joy inspiring kitchen or bath they have been looking forward to. Right now, people are waiting longer for the finished product, but they keep telling us their joy-inspired project was really worth the wait! It’s our goal to make you happy from the moment you walk through our showroom door until the moment we leave your home for you to enjoy. In fact, during your project you’re given a “Make Me Happy” sheet so when comments or concerns do arise, you have a place to jot them down for us.

Avoid these common mistakes when planning a remodel.

Bidets are widely used around the world and are finally finding appreciation in the United States. There are some compelling reasons to add a bidet. First, comfort is key. Cleaning with a bidet is gentler than dry paper. Those with sensitive skin, medical conditions, or limited mobility will definitely appreciate a thorough but kinder type of clean. Secondly, cleaning with a spray of water is more effectively hygienic. Water gives a better clean and it's hands-free. Additionally, bidets are environmentally friendly. Toilet paper is resource intensive with a great deal of wood and water used to produce what is literally just flushed down the toilet.
