FULL SERVICE

By full service, we mean that we handle your whole project from design through product selection to installation. You have the convenience of one stop shopping for almost everything you need
for a remodeled kitchen, master bathroom, powder room, guest bath, half bath or even a home office, media center, entertainment center or bar.

We are your source for custom, semi-custom and stock kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities. The "Plus" in our name means that we also provide all the other products needed to complete your new room, including countertops, sinks, faucets, flooring, lighting, tile and more.

THIRD GENERATION

For three generations, Northwest suburban Chicago homeowners have been saying "Thanks, Cabinets Plus" in response to our personal service, attention to detail, and competitive pricing. Richard (Dick) Kunzweiler started the business as a general contracting firm in 1962 with a simple ideal: "Treat the customer with respect and provide good service and the rest will fall into place." More than 45 years later, Dick's four sons - Stephen, Kevin, Kent and Dave - still try to hold to this credo in today's vastly different, fast paced society. Given that most of our new projects come from referrals, we believe we have been successful.

When Dick started out, he was assured that customers would get quality service because he did everything himself, from the initial client meeting to the punch list at the end of the job. As the business grew, Dick began hiring his extended family, including cousins and nephews. Several of those first employees went on to start their own contracting firms. One by one, his four sons also joined the family business.

Dick is a wealth of knowledge and continues to be vital to the business. Although he does take Wednesdays off, things at Cabinets Plus wouldn't run as smoothly as they do without him. One of his greatest joys is having his four sons running the company that he started all those years ago. Another "Plus": his grandson is now part of the business.

MEET OUR FAMILY

Steve Kunzweiler, President, Sales Manager

By the time Steve graduated from high school in 1968, he and his father were working together and have been ever since. He took over as President once his Dad retired from everyday operations. Steve was instrumental in refocusing the company toward custom kitchen and bath remodeling, as well as working with contractors and new construction. His portfolio includes a long list of repeat and referral customers, following clients from house to house, spanning nearly 40 years. Steve has built lifelong relationships with clients and many friendships too. Steve's vision for Cabinets Plus is to design spaces for homeowners that improve the quality of their day to day lives. He has served as the President of the Chicago Midwest Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association.

Kevin Kunzweiler, Vice President, Design/Sales

Kevin joined Cabinets Plus full-time in 1979 after attending Loyola University and Southern Illinois University. Kevin's experience in the business is quite diverse. His craftsmanship is exquisite; he has extensive product knowledge and is a student of the latest innovations in kitchen and bath design and construction. Kevin was part of our original installation team and understands every facet of a remodeling project. He believes that by educating the customer, he allows them to come up with the best use of the space and the best products that will make the finished kitchen or bath look and function better than they ever imagined.

Kent Kunzweiler, Vice President, Operations/Marketing

Kent joined Cabinets Plus in 1985 after completing a BS in Marketing from Southern Illinois University. He is responsible for all the financial affairs as well as the daily management of the company's showroom and staff. Kent has created a process that simplifies decision-making for a project. The Cabinets Plus showroom is set up as an interactive tool, showcasing fully finished displays instead of just samples, making product selection easier and more enjoyable. Kent has developed a system of coordinating the various craftsmen involved in your project. So when you have a question or concern, you only need to call one number. He has also held a variety of positions on the board of the Chicago Midwest Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association.

Dave Kunzweiler, Vice President, Project Management and Logistics/Customer Support

Dave joined the company in 1990, marking the first year that all four brothers were part owners in a dynamic and successful family business. Dave brought a diverse background in business management, data communications, customer service and entertainment to Cabinets Plus. Dave graduated from DePaul University with a BM in Classical Guitar in 1978 and later earned an MBA in 1989. His proven organization and communication skills allow him to excel in successfully managing the scheduling of our projects, working as a liaison between the homeowner, designer and craftsmen. Dave has developed community education courses in kitchen and bath remodeling and to date, has schooled over 500 people in a very entertaining manner.

Cabinets Plus principals have taken leadership roles in the National Kitchen & Bath Association, and also belong to the Bath & Kitchen Buying Group. We are a Sustaining Member of the Palatine Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Better Business Bureau.
