The kitchen and bath professionals at Cabinets Plus would like to share some product tips and hints that we have learned during our many years of kitchen and bath experience.
Corian Care
Did you know that Corian solid surface material has been around for over 30 years? While DuPont continues to introduce innovative new colors, you may be wondering what can be done to renew an existing top. Soap and water cleans up most spots and you can even find cleaners these days that are specifically formulated for Corian.
Most Corian is sold in a matte finish, and that is the easiest to take care of.
Those of us who cook put our countertops through the paces by cutting, mixing and even doing homework. These types of activities cause the most used sections of our counters to become shiny and sometimes scratched. The best way to renew Corian tops is with SoftScrub and a green Scotch-Brite pad. Go over the entire top and then rinse thoroughly. This should take away any glossy areas and remove minor scratches.
Never put a hot pot down on your Corian tops. You should use a trivet under most heat-generating appliances (i.e. crock pot, electric fry pan, toaster oven etc.) Corian takes on the temperature of the room. If you are using a toaster oven that throws heat off the bottom, you can actually damage the top by exposing it to heat over an extended period of time.
